Hampton Roads SQL Server User Group
SharePoint Tech Conference

The Hampton Roads SQL Server and SharePoint User Group is a group of individuals that meet to discuss issues related to Microsoft's SQL Server Database System and SharePoint Technologies, and other related Microsoft topics, such as .NET software development and Business Intelligence.  The meetings are open to the public and are free.  Please click here if you'd like an email reminder of upcoming meetings.

We've MOVED! We now meet the third WEDNESDAY of the month at 6:30 pm.  Meetings are graciously hosted by Infotec at their location in Town Center in Virginia Beach; Click here for a map and to get directions!  Our meetings usually have a guest speaker that normally speaks for an hour to an hour and a half, and we spend some time networking with one another and discussing topics of interest to the group.

Our featured speaker for July 21, 2010 is Jessica Moss, speaking on MDX: From WITH To WHERE
SQL Server Analysis Services provides a quick and easy queryable structure for your data warehouse.  You can use Analysis Services's querying language, MDX (multi-dimensional expressions), to retrieve data for reports, ad-hoc analysis, and dashboards!  This session will discuss basic syntax, query-scoped calculated measures, and common functions that can be used in MDX queries.
 
Jessica M. Moss, an architect with Ironworks Consulting and a Microsoft SQL Server MVP, is a well-known practitioner, author, and speaker in Microsoft SQL Server business intelligence. Scott Singleton from i3solutions will be this month's speaker talking on Metadata/Taxonomy and Client Object Model development in SharePoint 2010! Sure to be a fantastic talk, so be there or be square!  Our meeting will be our first at our new location, Infotec at 100 Constituion Drive, Virginia Beach AND at our new day of the week, the third Wednesday of the month, this month is June 16th.
 
Scott Singleton is a Senior Consultant and a Lead SharePoint Architect at i3solutions and has been working as a software architect and programmer for over 17 years.   For the last three years he's been focused on leveraging his design and development skills to solve customer's business challenges in SharePoint as well as managing large implementations with user counts in excess of 100,000.
